Table Tennis Scoreboard
A simple two-player scoreboard for table tennis: tap +1 Point for either side, track the score game by game, rename the players, and correct the tally instantly if you misclick. Nothing you tap is sent anywhere — the score is saved only in this browser.
Frequently asked questions
Does this sync between two devices, e.g. both sides of the table?
No. The score lives only in your browser on the device you’re tapping on (see the privacy notice) — it never reaches a server. Whoever is keeping score should use a single device.
I tapped the wrong player by mistake — how do I fix it?
Tap −1 under that player to back the point off, or tap directly on the score to type the exact correct number. The new number saves immediately.
Will I lose the score if I close the tab or my phone locks?
No — the score is saved to your browser’s local storage after every tap, so it’s still there when you reopen this page on the same device and browser. Clearing your browser data, using a private/incognito window, or switching devices resets it.
Can I rename the players?
Yes — tap either name field and type the real player (or team) names. They’re saved alongside the score and included in the copied final-score summary.
How do I start a new match?
Tap "Reset match" and confirm. There’s no undo, so only use it once the previous match’s result is recorded.
How does the game-by-game score work, and what does "Best of" do?
Tap "Next game →" when a game ends. The scoreboard tells you when it thinks a game is won (11 points, win by 2, by default) but never advances by itself — you always tap. "Best of" sets how many games the "Next game" button will let you add — 5 by default, so up to 5 games. The breakdown table shows each game’s score separately, and it’s included in the copied final-score summary.
Does it stop automatically at 11 points, or enforce win-by-2?
It shows, it doesn’t enforce. When someone is one point from taking the game you’ll see "Game point", at 10–10 you’ll see "Deuce", and once a game is actually won you’ll see who won it — but the +1 buttons keep working and "Next game" stays tappable at any score. That’s deliberate: a real match has lets, disputes and games that just get abandoned, and a scoreboard that locks up is worse than one that trusts you.
Can I change the points-to-win or the winning margin?
Yes — "Points to win" and "Win by" sit next to "Best of" and default to the standard 11 and 2. Set them to 21 and 2 for the pre-2001 rules, or to a margin of 1 for casual first-to-N play. Changing them affects the game you’re playing now and any game after it; games you already finished keep the rules they were actually played under, so an earlier 11-point game still counts as won after you switch to 21.
How does the serve indicator know whose serve it is?
It counts the points played in the current game: service changes every 2 points, and every single point once both players reach one short of the target (10–10 under standard rules). The first serve alternates each game. If real play drifts from that — a let, a corrected score, or the other player simply served first — tap the serve indicator to switch it; your correction sticks for the rest of that game, and the next game picks the rotation back up.
What does "Games won" count?
The games in the breakdown table that actually met the win condition in force when they were played — reaching the point target with the required margin. A game you abandoned mid-way and tapped past counts for nobody, which is why "Games won" can read 1–0 while three games are listed.
How do timeouts work?
Each player gets one 60-second timeout per match — tap "Timeout" under a player’s name to start theirs. It counts down on its own and the button disables once used; there’s no clock to pause since this scoreboard doesn’t track match time. Changing "Best of" doesn’t give a used timeout back — only "Reset match" does that.
